I'm an avid reader of history, especially during the era in question. Unfortunately, this book did nothing to illuminate the deals made behind the scenes between the "Big 3" which had such a profound impact on the second half of the 20th century. For some reason, the author took the highly unusual stance that the subject should not be evaluated with future impact in mind. From this perspective, Mr. Chaimberland would be seen as a peacemaker and not a fool! The only reason I can come up with for this stance is that it was the only way the author could paint Stalin in a positive light (Stalin's pause to allow the SS to decimate the Warsaw Uprising receives an unconscionable defense from the author), as well as justify Roosevelt's naive assertion that he "could handle Stalin". The book is extremely light on source references, and focuses mostly on the (rather uninteresting) opinions of the author. This is a tremendous shame, since the subject matter itself is so promising!

I was shocked to find that this book, bearing the imprimatur of the BFI, was so poorly researched and so sloppily assembled. One example -- a film that merits an entire chapter is not even mentioned in the index! Winston has done some good work in the past, and has some interesting ideas, but should be ashamed of having this mess released with his name on it.

Why does this book claim fossils determine the age of the dirt they were found in and then claims the age of the earth's crust can be determined by the index fossil found? This is circular reasoning! There is no proof of evolution but there is proof of the biblical flood! Read Bones of Contention or In the Beginning. Go to creationscience.org for real proof of the age of the earth. No bible necessary, though always encouraged.

Extremely confusing, the story flies all over the place with no obvious connection, and there are way to many characters to completely understand the book, even though I have an incredible, almost photographic memory, I could not keep all the characters straight!

Do not use this CD, it crashed my machine and all the computers I tried it in. It also does not let you save your work, so all it lost after spending hours working on it. The concept of the CD is a good one, but unless the bugs can be fixed, it is not worth a dime.
